Arnold Schwarzenegger offers an update on filming of FUBAR season 2, after his hit Netflix show was renewed. Following in the footsteps of fellow ‘80s action icon Sylvester Stallone, Schwarzenegger made his own leap to streaming in 2023, starring in an action-comedy series as a CIA spy whose work becomes a dangerous family affair when he learns his daughter (Monica Barbaro) is also an agent. A somewhat surprisingly large streaming hit, FUBAR was renewed for a second season back in June.
As audiences wait for a FUBAR season 2 premiere date reveal, Schwarzenegger just offered a status update on the show, saying in his fan newsletter that filming is set to begin next month (via TVLine).
FUBAR season 1 came out on Netflix in May of 2023 with an 8-episode drop. With filming on season 2 set to begin in April, it’s unreasonable to expect that new episodes will arrive sooner than 2025. It’s safe to assume that Netflix is targeting the first quarter of next year a a premiere window, but it remains to be seen what the actual premiere date will be.
It’s also yet to be seen how many members of the FUBAR season 1 cast will be back for another round of spy hijinks alongside Schwarzenegger in season 2. Given the importance of Luke Brunner’s relationship with his daughter Emma in season 1, it’s safe to assume that Barbaro will be back. Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster and Travis Van Winkle also made large contributions to season 1’s comedic effect, and would be sorely missed if they were not back for more.
FUBAR season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, as Luke, Emma, Tally, Donnie and Carter were forced to go on the lam after Luke and Emma had their covers blown. It’s a safe assumption that season 2 will resolve the various romantic entanglements and other plot threads left dangling after season 1. Or, perhaps FUBAR season 2 will go off in some wild, unexpected direction when it makes its way to Netflix.
