A group in Imo State, Odimma Orsu, is set to engage forest guards and vigilante to man communities in Orsu Local Government Area of the state.
The group announced the plan at her secret stakeholders’ security summit held in Owerri on March 24, 2024.
The summit, themed: ‘Udo ka mma’ – ‘Peace is Better’ played host to many security professionals.
Addressing journalists at the end of the summit, the Director of the group, Chief Ethel Odumegwu, expressed happiness at the outcome of the security summit, insisting that they had overcome security challenges which their communities had been facing in the last four years.
He informed that some miscreants invaded Orsu with all types of weapon, took over their communities, raped as many women as possible, destroyed public infrastructure and killed many youths among other dastardly vices.
Odimegwu said that Odimma Orsu must protect Orsu by hiring forest guards and vigilante while government would support them to fight insurgency in the area.
He noted that Odimma Orsu would brief their brothers and sisters at home that their common village can never give them Biafara.
He said, “Biafara is better discussed at the National Assembly and not Orsu. Whosoever is agitating for Biafra should go to the National Assembly.”
Odumegwu, however frowned at the way Igbos were killing their brothers and sisters for no reason, regretting that Orsu was known as a peaceful town and council area in the state. He said, “It is regrettable that such a peaceful area is now theatre of war.”
Adding his voice, the Director of Media, Emeka Eze, commended security operatives for aiding Orsu communities in the area of crimes and criminalities.
Eze noted that Orsu had overcome its fear, hence, should unite and fight their common enemy.
He further advised his kinsmen, who were conscripted to carry out the dastardly actions to sheath their swords now that the present state government under the watch of Senator Hope Uzodimma had opened her hand widely for amnesty.
