Okuama massacre

Okuama: Soldiers didn’t invade Gbaregolor – Community leader, Egayomake dismisses rumour

President-General of Gbaregolor Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Samson O. Egayomake, on Thursday, dismissed the rumour that soldiers had raided the community, burning down houses.

This is contrary to rumour that soldiers allegedly invaded Gbaregolor community and burnt down several houses.

He said this in a telephone chat with our correspondent in Warri.

While noting that Gbaregolor Community believes in God for protection, he confirmed some communities in the riverine area had been invaded.

Egayomake said the soldiers allegedly harassed people in the area.

He said, “This is uncalled for,” pointing out that Okuama, where 17 soldiers were ambushed and killed, is very far from Gbaregolor.

He said,”The Federal Government refused to go into enquiry and know what’s the cause of the whole thing other than to disturb people which is not fair.”
