Academy Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg explains the story of Star Trek: Discovery so far, and it’s as funny as expected. Star Trek: Discovery season 5 premieres Thursday, April 4, on Paramount+, and it’s the final season of the series led by Sonequa Martin-Green as Captain Michael Burnham. Of course, Whoopi Goldberg is a beloved EGOT winner who played Guinan in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard.
Paramount+ released Star Trek: Discovery: Inside The Final Season, hosted by Wil Wheaton, on YouTube where Whoopi Goldberg narrates a “crash course” explaining the story of Star Trek: Discovery‘s first four seasons. Goldberg’s tongue-in-cheek description of the adventures of Michael Burnham and the USS Discovery showcases the sly humor Whoopi is known for. Check out the video below:

Star Trek: Discovery brought Star Trek back to television after a 12-year absence, and Discovery’s success created a new Star Trek renaissance that led to more series on Paramount+ like Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and Star Trek: Prodigy, which is now on Netflix. Even as Discovery exits the stage, the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy continues Discovery’s 32nd-century era, and Academy Award-winner Michelle Yeoh’s Star Trek: Section 31 movie follows up her anti-heroine’s story, which began in Star Trek: Discovery.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 is an intergalactic hunt for an ancient power, but beyond the outer space adventure, the final season is also a voyage inward for the crew of the USS Discovery. Personal relationships like Captain Michael Burnham and Cleveland Booker (David Ajala) and Captain Saru (Doug Jones) and President T’Rina (Tara Rosling) will find a new fruition, and big, cosmic questions will be answered. No doubt, Whoopi Goldberg will be along for the ride in Star Trek: Discovery season 5.
