A Baldur’s Gate 3 fan took their Alfira cosplay to the next level, making some Reddit users believe it was a screenshot of Alfira from the game instead of a real image. Baldur’s Gate 3 has continued to be one of the most popular video games since its release in 2023. Fans share their love of the series through many outlets, including cosplaying their favorite characters, creating impressive fan art, and also making mods to add more playable Dungeons & Dragons races to Baldur’s Gate 3.
Cosplayer mercurygin_ shared her immaculate Alfira cosplay on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, causing one user to reply “Deadass thought this was a screenshot,” to which many people agreed. There is a strong attention to detail that mercurygin_ achieves in her cosplay, which is captured perfectly by photographer MilliganVick. From the outfit Alfira wears to the coloration of her skin, which was achieved using Kryolan paint, according to mercurygin_, she showcases Alfira’s personality quite well.
The cosplayer has recreated other characters from series such as Red Dead Redemption and Cyberpunk 2077, and has also cosplayed as Shadowheart, all with the same level of detail seen in her Alfira cosplay. Though there have been many Shadowheart and Astarion cosplayers that have gotten recognition in the fandom, there have been very few Alfira cosplayers that shared their costumes. Much to the chagrin of many players, the purple-haired tiefling bard is not a romanceable character, even if players save her from the Dark Urge in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Alfira’s encounter is still important for players to experience and finding her can be game-changing. If players play their cards right, a friendship with Alfira can bring powerful items and musical prowess, which is especially helpful if they’re also playing as a bard. Though her fate may vary depending on how someone is playing the game, Alfira has quickly become a fan favorite in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Alfira plays a small part in the larger story of the game, but it has been rumored that she was supposed to be even more involved with the player’s progression. Whether or not this meant she would have been a recruitable companion remains a mystery, though dataminers found clues in the Baldur’s Gate 3 code leaning towards that being a possibility. Regardless, there are many players that had hoped for more from the character.
Unfortunately, Larian Studios has stated that there will not be any DLC or even a sequel from the studio, so Alfria’s fate remains sealed by the choices the player makes throughout their playthrough. Hopefully mercurygin_’s impressive cosplay will inspire other Alfira lovers to join in and share their appreciation for the underrated Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC.
