Stardew Valley fans waiting for the 1.6 Update to arrive on consoles and mobile devices will need to wait a little longer but don’t worry because development is progressing smoothly. One of the biggest releases of 2024 so far has been the latest major patch for ConcernedApe’s beloved farming RPG and the community couldn’t be more thrilled with all the extra additions. Having said that, those who don’t happen to play the game on PC have been waiting for some kind of news regarding when the update will hit mobile and consoles.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), ConcernedApe promised players on consoles and mobile devices that the 1.6 Updates for both platforms are “in progress and will be released as soon as possible.”
Despite this, the developer has yet to land on a specific release but elaborated that he intends to share any details when he can. Additionally, he further thanked the community for its patience and understanding, prompting many to reassure him that he could take as long as he needed considering the amount of effort he’s put into Stardew Valley and his other projects.
While some may be concerned about the fact that the 1.6 Update hasn’t officially been released for every version of Stardew Valley, it’s worth noting that every substantial patch has had a staggered release. Traditionally, PC receives the update followed by the console version and then the mobile port. It’s also worth mentioning that the 1.5 Update took a couple of months to make the jump to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, so a small delay is very common.
The reason the console and mobile versions of the 1.6 Update are taking a little longer is still unknown but it may have something to do with the fact that ConcernedApe is an incredibly busy developer. Aside from continuing support for Stardew Valley, a game that’s over eight years old, he’s also working on Haunted Chocolatier, an entirely new project that doesn’t have a release date. As pointed out by ConcernedApe’s followers, he also just needs some time off to rest after dropping such a major patch.
Even if the 1.6 Update takes a while to reach Stardew Valley players on console and mobile, the game is still a massive undertaking that’s loaded with content. In the event that’s not enough, modding the experience can also be a decent way to refresh Pelican Town and feel a little more new and exciting. There are thousands of mods available for Stardew Valley that change everything from the character portraits right down to the core gameplay loop of growing crops, fishing, and making friends.
