Eid-el-Fitr: NSCDC deploys 1,700 personnel in Kogi

Kogi State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Paul O Igwebuike, has approved the deployment of 1,700 officers and men of the State Command to provide security during this yearโ€™s Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.

Commandant Igwebuike in a statement signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSC Abdullahi Aliyu, said the deployment is in line with the directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to ensure a hitch-free Eid el-Fitr celebration across the Country.

According to the statement, the State Commandant tasked the Area Commanders to ensure proper security coordination and coverage of their areas, while divisional officers are to effectively mobilize their personnel adequately.

The statement noted that the NSCDC Commandant further directed that all component Commanders and Special Forces are inclusive in the deployment in other to achieve watertight Security for maximum protection of the populace and Critical National Assets and Infrastructures.

He said โ€œThe Corps remains focused and resolute to ensure peace, safety, protection of lives, critical National Assets and Infrastructures in synergy with other Security agencies which must be through collective input of all stakeholders. For these obvious reasons, the Commandant has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers with these responsibilities. Therefore everyone must brace up to discharge their responsibilities satisfactorily.

โ€œThe Commandant also mandated all formations within Kogi State Command to engage community holders in gathering credible intelligence and carry out effective surveillance before, during and after the celebration to prevent act of crimes and criminality at public places for a hitch-free festivityโ€.ย
