After one of the best pieces of visual spectacle in the entire anime, One Piece episode #1101 has a lot to live up to in terms of story and general presentation. Anticipation was high for Luffy’s epic rematch with Lucci on Egghead Island, and the resulting fight was absolutely incredible. Given how great that fight was, fans have more than a few reasons to be excited for the upcoming episode.
As with previous episodes, One Piece streams new episodes weekly on both Crunchyroll and Netflix, which can be accessed through their apps, websites, or third-party websites such as Amazon Prime for Crunchyroll. Following episode #1100, One Piece will be on break and airing a recap special centered around CP9, and as such One Piece episode #1101 should be released on Saturday, April 20 at 7:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST), 10:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST), and 3:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
One Piece episode #1100, “Powers on a Different Level! Luffy vs. Lucci!”, continued where episode #1099 left off with Luffy and Lucci fighting again for the first time in two years. After briefly clashing in their base forms, Luffy activated Gear 5 and Lucci revealed the awakened form of his Devil Fruit before fighting in full, although even with Lucci fighting at full strength, Luffy was still clearly the superior fighter between the two of them.
As the fight carried on, Vegapunk joined the Straw Hats and revealed to them that Luffy’s appearance and personality in Gear 5 were the same as the sun god Nika, making that the true form of Luffy’s Devil Fruit. From there, Vegapunk revealed his theory that Devil Fruits exist from people’s desires willing them into existence, with Vegapunk then saying that something like that helped make the world more interesting.
Meanwhile, Sentomaru, after being guilt-tripped by Vegapunk, led the Seraphim in a fight against CP0, even taking control of S-Bear due to having more authority over Pacifistas than CP0. Noticing this, Lucci dealt Sentomaru a lethal wound and knocked him out, and the episode ended with Lucci commanding the Seraphim to follow CP0’s orders.
One Piece episode #1100 received a lot of hype for being Luffy and Lucci’s big rematch, giving Luffy one of his toughest fights in One Piece, and it more than delivered on all fronts. One Piece episode #1100 had some of the most inventive and gorgeous art and animation in the entire anime, and as such, it perfectly lived up to the expectations people had of it prior to its release. One Piece episode #1100 is bound to go down as one of the best episodes of the franchise, and above all else, it sets an excellent precedent for what to expect from the rest of the arc, going forward.
