Over 51,000 Nigerian pilgrims to perform Hajj in 2024 – NAHCON  – Blueprint Newspapers Limited

National al Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has disclosed that about 51,447 Nigerians will perform the 2024 pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Chairman of the Commission, Malam Jalal Arabi, disclosed this when he hosted news men for iftar at the conference hall of Hajj House in Abuja.

Arabi commended the Federal, state governments, individuals, Ulamas and most importantly the intending pilgrims for the patience exhibited due to uncertainties that come with the preparations of Hajj.

NAHCON boss assured the intending pilgrims of the commission’s readiness and determination to conduct a successtul Hajj operation, no matter the challenges.

He reiterated that the Nigerian Muslims would perform the 2024 Hajj in a number that nobody had ever imagined.

His words: “This year’s Hajj preparation is one of the most difficult and peculiar one.

“You know in the past, we had the luxury of time to prepare at our own pace; But, this time around, the host which is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came up with the timeline that we have to work within.

“Indeed, 2024 Hajj preparations came with unexpected challenges from which lessons have been learnt. NAHCON has always known that long term planning has been the workable strategy that would have subdued the challenges that slowed down the year’s Hajj preparations. Going forward, long term planning will be the Commission’s paradigm shift in its pre-Hajj operations. It is a reality that all Hajj stakeholders must queue into to avert unforeseen challenges.“

The Chairman further noted that going forward, Hajj Saving scheme is the way to go, adding that the commission would soon embark on sensitisation and enlightenment in order to equip the intending pilgrims.
