Palworld's Recent Update Adds A Much Needed Item For Combat

Palworld, the creature-collecting game developed by the small indie studio PocketPair, has taken audiences by storm by implementing fun game mechanics in a sprawling open world. That said, the Early Access title is far from a perfect game, and the developers have been updating it with various patches since it was originally released in January 2024. From popular bugs and glitches used to great effect to mechanics and items that are totally missing from the game, it still has a way to go before being a completed, polished product.

Though updates haven’t been as frequent as other titles like Helldivers 2, Palworld has seen a host of tweaks, improvements, and new gameplay features that make it worth revisiting the title again. The latest Palworld patch update v0.2.0.6 added plenty of new content, including Palworld’s first-ever raid boss Bellanoir, along with an inventory of new items and mechanics that make being self-sufficient at the base much more feasible.

Palworld patch update v0.2.0.6 introduces a new item called Recovery Meds, which can now be crafted in base at the Witch Cauldron or Medieval Medical Bench. Instead of giving a quick boost of HP like a potion, these meds will slowly heal the character over time, similar to food in other survival titles. This is a huge boost and addition to the game, as previously consuming food only recovered hunger.

Previously, there was no way outside of Partner Skills from specific Pals like Teafant or Lyleen; healing could only be done by sleeping in Palworld. Though there was a Medical Bench and Cauldron to craft different medicinal items, these were exclusively to reduce the Stress of Pals or cure them of their various ailments. This made taking out and capturing higher-level Pals challenging and required players to grind to gain enough experience to be strong enough to take on the game’s bigger threats, like Palworld‘s various Tower Bosses.

Having a heal, though it isn’t an instant boost of health like in many other gaming titles, is still a significant boon in combat to any person who has been caught out in the open with an injured mount and no way to restore HP. This update also coincides with the much more challenging raid boss introduction, so it makes sense that there’s an avenue to restore health now. Although it would seem like an obvious thing to have in just about every game, Palworld‘s lack of healing options was an obvious complaint to just about everyone who played the game. With the latest update, this is no longer an issue.
