The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration Monday unveiled Citizens’ Delivery Tracker App’, a device designed for Nigerians to monitor the performance of ministers as well as heads of departments and agencies.
The App, which is the brainchild of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) in the Presidency, will afford citizens to hold the government accountable in the running of the administration.
The Muhammadu Buhari had launched a similar one called Eyemark App December 2022 to enable citizens monitor government projects.
Speaking while unveiling what she called the upgraded version of the tracker at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on Policy& Coordination /Head CDCU, Hadiza Bala Usman, said the App, “which can be immediately accessed at app.cdcu.gov.ng. is a significant milestone in President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability.
“Now, Nigerians will have access to the deliverables of all Ministers thereby acknowledging the citizens as integral stakeholders in monitoring and evaluating the government’s performance. The App will be available on Google Play Store and Apple Store within the next month.
“The innovative application, which was upgraded by the CDCU in consultation with diverse stakeholders, provides citizens with information on priority projects, policies, and programmes of the Federal Government.
“This application will enable citizens with the opportunity to give real-time feedback on their assessment of governments performance on the implementation of its policies, projects, and programmes from anywhere they are in the country.”
She listed the key features of the App to include: “Comprehensive Project Monitoring:Citizens can access detailed information on government priority projects and programmes nationwide, promoting transparency and accountability, and fostering a sense of shared responsibility.
“Real-time Feedback Mechanism:Users can submit their assessment of ministries, provide feedback and observations directly through the app, facilitating timely responsiveness from the CDCU and ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard.
“Direct Presidential Oversight:President Tinubu, toward actualising his
commitment to citizen engagement, will have direct access to Nigerians’
feedback on ministerial deliverables through a dedicated dashboard in his
office.”
The presidential aide said the tracker “will undergo continuous enhancements, incorporating user observations to ensure user-friendliness and maintain a robust feedback loop between citizens and government, ultimately towards ensuring effective and prompt delivery on all government priority areas.
“In addition to the App, the CDCU has also developed a Delivery Reporting Framework and Template, to accurately assess and report the performance of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). We are adopting international best practices and utilizing globally recognised performance indicators and benchmarks to assess the performance of MDAs in the implementation of the presidential priority programmes, projects, and policies.”
She listed the eight presidential priority areas to include reforming the economy to deliver sustained and inclusive growth, strengthening national security for peace and prosperity, boosting agriculture to achieve food security, and unlocking energy and natural resources for sustainable development.
The rest are enhancing infrastructure and transportation as enablers for growth, focusing on education, health, and social investment as essential pillars of development, accelerating diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts, manufacturing, and innovation, as well as improving governance for effective service delivery.
“For each of these priority areas, we agreed on specific deliverables and developed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which formed the basis for the Performance Bond which all Ministers and Permanent Secretaries signed with the President in November 2023. These parameters will guide the Quarterly Assessments and Annual Scorecards, which the CDCU is mandated to present to the President,” Usman added.
She called for the partnership of all Nigerians in the quest for national development, just as the CDCU assured of its commitment to effectively track, monitor and report the performance of MDAs in line with the presidential priorities.
