Stardew Valley is already filled with ways to spend some quality time with Pelican Town’s residents but an updated version of a beloved mod now ensures that the spark of love isn’t lost after marriage in the latest 1.6 Update. One of the more common complaints regarding the romantic system in ConcernedApe’s farming RPG is that once players settle down with a spouse, their selected character loses a great deal of their personality, becoming almost a mindless robot that just hands around the property. While the latest patch fixes that, this revamped mod makes it even better.
Posted to Nexus Mods by Agent Lyoko, the “Date Night Redux” mod updates the classic version of the mod so that it’s compatible with Stardew Valley 1.6. While most of the content will be familiar to those who played the original version of the add-on, the Redux version fixes many bugs and errors that have lingered since the first iteration was released or were caused by the arrival of the latest content patch. Aside from this, the mod also tweaks several interactions and dialogue exchanges to fit better in line with what the community has come to expect from the game’s characters.
Much like the original Date Night mod for older iterations of Stardew Valley, the Redux version includes several unique events for players to trigger after they propose and marry an NPC. These are broken into either “Generic Dates” or “Spouse-specific Dates” and are usually affected by the time of year and the weather. Players can go on Forest/Picnic Dates during any season that’s not winter, take their lover on a Library Date if the weather is especially chilly during Winter, or simply dance on the porch before the work day.
Aside from these general dates, Maru, Alex, Emily, and Haley all have unique dates that tie into their personality. For example, once marrying Maru, players can choose the evening of the 15th of every month to watch a Lunar Eclipse with her, while Alex will surprise the Farmer with tickets to a Gridball game most Sundays. The Redux mod is also designed in such a way as to allow users to create their own custom dates, allowing for an untold amount of personalization.
Stardew Valley‘s massive 1.6 Update has already been hailed as one of the best patches the game has yet received over its nearly 10-year-old lifespan and with the help of mods, the communities is unlikely to run out of content any time soon. Players are coming up with all manner of inventive add-ons to make the already massive game even bigger. ConcernedApe is still working on fleshing out the experience even more but those who’d rather not wait for more official patches can simply expand upon the experience their own way thanks to the game’s simple-to-use modding tools.
