Fans of the hit sci-fi show The Orville are about to discover more than they ever thought possible thanks to a new guidebook. While the future of the show hangs in the air, a new release from Dark Horse Books will take readers back and answer any question about The Orville’s world.
Screen Rant has an exclusive first look at The Guide to the Orville, an illustrated guide to the sci-fi universe. Written by Andre Bormanis, the guide contains everything a crew member of the USS Orville could use, from the history of the Union to the tech that makes every one of the Orville’s journeys possible.
The book features accounts by Captain Ed Mercer and his shipmates that detail the Orville while also providing commentary for their many adventures. The Guide to the Orville will feature a deluxe edition that features a slipcase, a poster, and four Planetary Union patches.
The Orville is a live-action, sci-fi comedy-drama that followed the lives of officers onboard the titular Orville. In the vein of Star Trek, The Orville saw the crew travel from world to world, encountering odd alien cultures while touching on themes of politics, war, and diplomacy. In addition to an audiobook developed from an unfilmed third season episode, The Orville has also had several comic book tie-ins. The comics that have been released so far have been set between seasons and clarified plot points that went unaddressed in The Orville (such as the sudden growth of Bortus’ daughter, Topa).
While the comics have done a good job of helping flesh out The Orville’s world, there haven’t been any new ones since the third season ended. Right now, it’s unknown if The Orville will be coming back.
