connections april 23 grid

Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 23, 2024 (Puzzle #316)

The newest Connections collection is available for fans to solve and today’s categories shouldn’t be too difficult for most players. There’s a good mix of categories in today’s game that fit in nicely with normal general knowledge, as well as some of a well-loved actor’s filmography.

Be wary though, as some of the words in today’s game could cause a little misdirection with other incorrect Connections. There are a few color-themed words, as well as a couple of location-based matches that aren’t in a category together. Taking it slow, and making sure you have the best possible matches is one of the easiest ways to score a win in Connections.

Before we fully spoil today’s Connections answers we wanted to provide just a little help in the form of today’s categories. If you’re close to an answer, knowing what the grouping is might push you in the right direction.

We scored the yellow category in second place today and it’s easy to see why. There isn’t anything too difficult about connecting these words as they all stand out from the rest of the pack. BOOT and EJECT were the first two we noticed and it didn’t take long at all to notice BOUNCE and TOSS as other ways to kick someone, or something, out.

Green was the first category we scored today, and despite not knowing the actual category title, it was still an easy selection to spot. LAND and SOIL grabbed our attention right away and GROUND came quickly after. EARTH took a bit longer, but we didn’t waste any attempts before scoring this one, which is always a great start.

BLACK and RED jumped out right away once there were only eight words left, but for color reasons, and not for the fact that they are seas. BALTIC actually put our brain in Sea-mode which matched BLACK and RED quickly with the rest. We honestly didn’t know about the PHILIPPINE Sea, so it was a bit of a guess since we’re pretty sure there is no sea in PHILADELPHIA. It is always sunny though.

These were the leftover words for us today, but we knew instantly what they all had in common. Tom Hanks is one of the best actors of this generation and a beloved human being. We’ve been watching his movies since the original anti-Dungeon & Dragons movie Mazes and Monsters from 1982. He has captivated audiences for years and continues to haunt my nightmares with his uncanny valley face from The Polar Express.
