Your Next Helldivers 2 Mission Just Got A Lot Easier Thanks To New Update

The latest patch for Helldivers 2 should make it significantly easier for players to complete missions by fixing some of the game’s most persistent crashes. Developer Arrowhead Studios has done a tremendous job of supporting its third-person sci-fi shooter with a wealth of post-launch updates that both address pressing issues and add new content to the game. Now, as the Helldivers 2 community celebrates its victory over the Automatons, the most recent hotfix aims to stabilize the game to ensure that everyone is able to savor the Bots’ crushing defeat.

Per a post on Steam, Helldivers 2‘s patch notes specify the overall intention of Patch 01.000.202 is to fix the game’s stability, most notably when it comes to the crashes that have been plaguing certain players for the past week. These include crashes that “occurred when deploying to a mission,” “occurred during extraction and right after it,” and even when players picked up and tossed snowballs. Additionally, some weapons have had their stats UI tweaked to reflect any explosive damage they may cause, a change made to give those firearms that use explosive projectiles a “more fair representation.”

It’s obvious why Arrowhead Studios’ opted to prioritize stabilizing the game given that the Helldivers 2 community has been exceptionally outspoken on the amount of crashes it’s suffered since the last patch. Players flocked to forums to complain about losing out on mission progress and rewards due to sporadic and seemingly random gameplay crashes, obviously making the title significantly harder to play. Fortunately, Helldivers who struggled should now be able to return to action without worrying whether or not they’ll be able to see their mission through to the end.

While the Helldivers 2 community is no doubt feeling relief that completing quests should now be easier, the lack of any substantial content or gameplay tweaks has raised some eyebrows. Arrowhead Studios has a history of quietly including new features in seemingly innocuous patches that have some major repercussions on the state of the game. Previously, new enemy types like the Terminid Shrieker and the Automaton’s Strider Factory took players by surprise, leading to speculation that there’s more to the hotfix than meets the eye.

Adding further fuel to the fire is the fact that the Helldivers 2 community just managed to successfully eradicate the Automaton army, one of two major opposing factions. Players are still trying to determine what this means for the future but it’s highly unlikely that Arrowhead hasn’t already cooked up an idea for some kind of major retaliation that should see the Bots return to their campaign of violence. Whether Patch 01.000.202 is the spark that ignites their revenge remains unknown but Helldivers should learn more in the coming days.
