Youths must unite to salvage Nigeria — NYA

The urgent need for youth in Nigeria to unite to set the country on the path of sustainable growth and development has been emphasised.

The charge was handed down by the President of National Youth Alliance (NYA), Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, while inaugurating the Oyo State Chapter of NYA on Monday in Ibadan.

This was contained in a statement signed by the SA Media and Publicity to NYA President, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Kaduna on Tuesday.

“The youth are the future of Nigeria. Hence we must resolve to move this country forward through deliberate patriotic zeal.

“Key to achieving the desired goal of transforming the country to a global decider, is unity. We must be united knowing that our present crop of elders deviated from the path set by our founding fathers and the ruling class, mostly capitalize on our disunity to keep the country in the dark,” the statement quoted Ambassador Abbas.

According to the statement, he, therefore, charged the Oyo State NYA exco to be a shining light and serve as individual role models to all they come across.

In his remarks, NYA, Oyo State Coordinator, Adeniyi Ojo Adeniran assured that alongside his team, they would be committed to reaching out to other youth in the state through programmes that will make them see the need to be patriotic and project Nigeria positively to the world.

Speaking further, he thanked NYA President for the confidence reposed on them, assuring that it would not be taken for granted.

Others inaugurated in Ibadan, were, Morufu Alabi Kasumu (Vice State Coordinator), Sulaiman Kolawole Nurudeen (State Secretary), and Mrs Oluwasehun Elugbaju (Assistant State Secretary).
