The Senate, Management, Staff, and Students of Arthur Jarvis University, AJU, Cross River State, have congratulated Professor Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua, the first black woman to earn a Ph.D. in cybernetics, with heartfelt wishes.
In a remarkable achievement that has captured the attention of the global academic community, Professor Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua became the world’s first black woman to hold a Ph.D. in the field of cybernetics.
The institution congratulated the esteemed scholar in a statement signed by the Chancellor of the University, Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Calabar, the State capital.
In the statement, the institution lauded Professor Ekeng-Itua’s determination and dedication, labeling her as a model of bravery and persistence in her academic pursuits.
The Chancellor emphasized that her accomplishment has paved the way for greatness and proven that Africans, especially women, have immense value to offer to the world.
“Professor Rose-Margaret Ekeng-Itua’s achievement is not only a personal triumph but a landmark moment for the entire African continent.
“Her dedication and brilliance have shattered barriers and inspired a new generation of scholars to pursue their dreams with unwavering determination,” Sir Archibong stated.

The statement further highlighted Professor Ekeng-Itua’s partnership with Arthur Jarvis University in the establishment of the African Technology And Innovation Institute for Environmental Resiliency, Energy, and Clean Technology (E.R.E.C.T.).
“This collaborative endeavour is poised to create groundbreaking research opportunities and empower future generations of innovators and leaders.
“Professor Ekeng-Itua’s work at the E.R.E.C.T. Institute will undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of sustainable technologies and environmental solutions, benefiting communities across Africa and beyond,” Sir Archibong stated.
