Big Bang Theory Star Posts Nostalgic Throwback Photo As Young Sheldon Series Finale Arrives

As the Young Sheldon series finale arrives, a The Big Bang Theory star evokes nostalgia by posting a throwback photo with the cast. It has been five years since The Big Bang Theory ended. Since then, all of its core cast has moved on with their respective careers, starring in other projects or getting involved creatively in one way or another. All this while, the Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady-created universe thrived with Young Sheldon. Now, that branch of that franchise is also ending.

Raj actor Kunal Nayyar shares a never-before-seen set image from The Big Bang Theory on Instagram. Check out the adorable snap below:

Nayyar’s photo features him with The Big Bang Theory co-stars Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Simon Helberg. They aren’t in their respective characters’ clothes, but they are lounging in Apartment 4A’s iconic living room.

Young Sheldon may have long outgrown its original premise as Sheldon’s origins story, but as it ends, its ties to its parent series will be highlighted in the upcoming finale. Per the established The Big Bang Theory canon, George’s unexpected death happened when the boy genius was 14. The aftermath of the Coopers’ biggest loss will be the focus of the Young Sheldon finale’s first half, but its final 30 minutes will be devoted to setting up the future, with a confirmed appearance of Parsons’ adult Sheldon and Mayim Bialik’s Amy.

With that, it’s curious if any other member of the Pasadena gang will appear in the Young Sheldon finale flashforward. Considering the voice cameo from Howard in Young Sheldon, it’s safe to say that the Cooper-Fowler household is still friends with the rest of their social group. So, while they may not be hanging out as frequently as they used to, this won’t make it difficult to reunite all of them for a fun The Big Bang Theory tag at the end of Young Sheldon. There is no indication that this will happen, unfortunately.

After Young Sheldon, however, it would be more difficult to stage any kind of The Big Bang Theory reunion. Firstly, all the cast members are busy with their respective careers and endeavors. Secondly, there’s no other opportunity to bring them all back unless it’s a proper reunion special, which some may argue may be too soon to do.
