The Diocesan Bishop of Remo Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Most Rev’d Dr M. Olusina Fape, has urged the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to complete all abandoned housing estates across the state to address the challenge of housing deficit.
Fape commended the governor for providing affordable housing scheme since the administration came on board in 2019.
The Bishop in his Presidential Address presented to the Second Session of the Fourteenth Synod of the Diocese, on Friday, at Christ Anglican Church, Ogere Remo, emphasized the need for the state government to revisit the immediate completion of housing units at Old Makun City in Sagamu; the OPIC Agbara/Igbesa residential estate and MTR Gardens, Isheri, which all borders Lagos State.
He said, “These Estates are waiting for occupation, and yet there is housing deficit. Integrate these existing estates into your programme. Where there are needs to correct, restructure, and modify, please do.
“The ultimate beneficiaries will be grateful to the person who provides them with affordable accommodation, and not the person who started the projects or abandoned them midway.”

He lauded the governor for the remarkable achievements so far recorded in the almost five years in office through the 5-point agenda, and advised him to remain focus in his good works in making the State a real industrial hub of the country.
On State of the nation, Bishop Fape who is the Archbishop of Lagos Ecclesiastical Province, identified corruption as the clog in the wheel of progress of the country since independence.
He pointed out that no nation in the shackles of corruption can progress, saying that the country is seriously bleeding.
While noting that the masses are in pains due to high cost of living and depreciation of the value of naira.
“Our political office holders must be very sensitive to the plight of that poor masses who have elected them into various offices, they must see power as good weapon to make life comfortable for the electorates,” he added.
The theme of the Synod which had in attendance, Engr Ayo Ogunye as the Chairman; the Odole of the Source, Sir Kessington Adebukola Adebutu represented by Chief Jide Sosan; the Ologere of Ogere, Oba James Saliu, among others is ” Experiencing Jesus Christ At The Breaking of Bread And Implications” (Luke 24: 30-31).
