Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police have stormed Abuja electronic and gadget market, Bannex in the Wuse 2 Area of the city, where soldiers and traders had reportedly engaged in a fight.
Sources who spoke to NewsNGR about the matter said the fight ensued at the New Bannex Area of the complex after three soldiers met a trader over a phone issue.
The involved parties appeared to have disagreed over the phone matter, further escalating the situation.
According to a trader whose shop is located at the Old Bannex complex, and pleaded anonymity said that the phone dealers had gathered to “beat the soldiers”.
Viral videos on the internet also showed a large number of civilians overpowering some soldiers during a free-for-all fight at Banex.
At the time of filing this report, the FCT command has deployed its Intelligence Response Team to the scene of the incident.
