BREAKING: Tinubu Signs Controversial National Anthem Bill

President Bola Tinubu has signed the National Anthem Bill into law, overriding widespread opposition from Nigerians.

The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Tinubu spoke briefly before a joint session of the National Assembly following conflicting statements issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, and Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Media and Strategy.

Onanuga had announced that Tinubu would address a joint session of the National Assembly and commission the newly named โ€œBola Ahmed Tinubu Buildingโ€ housing the National Assembly library.

But Ngelale countered him, dismissing Onanugaโ€™s release as โ€œfalse and unauthorized.โ€

Ngelale clarified that President Tinubu has instead embarked on the inauguration of strategic projects across the country to mark his first year in office and further his commitment to good governance.

The presidential spokesman stated that โ€œthe Office of the Presidentโ€ was not involved in planning any event at the National Assembly, contrary to Onanugaโ€™s claim.

โ€œIn view of public commentary concerning the President delivering a speech before a Joint Sitting of the National Assembly tomorrow, May 29, 2024, it is important to state that this information is false and unauthorized as the Office of the President was not involved in the planning of the event,โ€ Ngelale affirmed.
