Dignitaries, others join Mark Okonkwo to bury grand mum in style

It was a surprise to many when they sighted the presence of the United Kingdom-based Mark Okonkwo at the celebration of the life and times of his grandma, Dame Margaret Adaoyibo Okonkwo (nee Dokai), in Delta State.

Mark, who is the first grandson of Dame Okonkwo, is also the first son of the popular international filmmaker, HRM, Queen Florence Okonkwo, popularly known as Queen of the Red Carpet.

Mark was the cynosure of all eyes as dignitaries from all walks of life joined the entire family to celebrate the deceased.

The burial, which commenced in Lagos with a Christian wake-up at Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac, and the Requiem mass, was completed at the country home of the deceased, at Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, recently.

In his remarks, Okonkwo, on behalf of the family, thanked the entire cleric, including the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins; His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Olubunmi Okojie; the parish priest and Dean of Festac Deanery, Very Rev. Dr. Melvis Mayaki; his associates and members of the Catholic Church; Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Ogwashi Uku; and the parish priest, Very Rev. Fr. Dominic Chukwudi.

Other distinguished guests that graced the event include the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led by Chief Emeka Rollas (MON), President of Ohaneze Worldwide, Chief Chinwe Owoh, Festac Girls Alumni (FGSSOSA), NTA, ElegantFlix, the media team, family members, relations, wellwishers, and corporate organisations.
