Xbox Game Pass is offering users an opportunity to break bad with the likes of Chuck Norris, Danny Trejo, and Michael Madsen with this weekend’s iteration of Free Play Days. Every week, Microsoft dishes out some extra bonuses to the platform’s subscribers that provide an opportunity to play some games that may not necessarily be available on the service. Fortunately, if those users enjoy the experience, they’re able to pick up the games on trial with a substantial discount so the fun needn’t come to a halt just because the weekend’s run its course.
Via Pure Xbox, Microsoft confirmed that this weekend’s Free Play Days games include the explosive multiplayer shooter Crime Boss: Rockay City, which stars a wealth of veteran Hollywood actors like the aforementioned Norris, Trejo, and Madsen alongside fellow behemoths such as Danny Glover, Michael Rooker, Kim Basinger, and Vanilla Ice. The game tasks players with pulling off a variety of heists with infiltration tactics and explosive gunfights with the police when things (likely) go wrong. The shooter can be played with a squad of AI teammates but it’s significantly more fun with friends.
It’s no secret that Crime Boss didn’t have the best release as many of the reviews criticized its flat voice-acting, despite the celebrity star power, and lack of meaningful content and progression. While it may not be on par with competitor Pay Day 2, developer Ingame Studios has dropped several substantial updates that have drastically improved Rockay City‘s gameplay. New story content, seasonal events, and weapons have been added to the mix and the most recent patch included some impressive tweaks to how multiplayer works, resulting in a smoother experience.
Of course, if Crime Boss doesn’t sound too interesting, Xbox’s Free Play Days has you covered with three other fantastic titles: Cities: Skylines Remastered, Destiny 2 (Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen Expansions included), and From Space. These titles, alongside Crime Boss, will be free to play all weekend until May 12, after which users will need to spend some cash to continue playing. It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who’s on the fence regarding any of the aforementioned games to give them a try before purchasing them.
As Microsoft continues to undergo some significant industrial changes behind the scenes, Xbox Game Pass remains excellent for players who want access to a library of games without breaking the bank. While it may not be raking in the money that Microsoft may have anticipated, the platform continues to be one of the best deals available for those who happen to own an Xbox. In the first half of May, the subscription service added titles like Little Kitty, Big City, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, with the highly anticipated Hellblade 2: Senua’s Saga arriving later in the month.
