Yet another day-one game is coming to Xbox Game Pass later this month. Microsoft’s subscription service has been praised for having a diverse range of titles, from indie games to major AAA releases, with its ever-changing roster usually having something available for all kinds of players. Game Pass is also often able to acquire titles that are yet to be released, getting them on the subscription service upon their launch as a further bonus for subscribers. This month already has the adorable Little Kitty, Big City, which sees a lost cat on an adventure to make its way home, and Ninja Theory’s highly anticipated sequel, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.
The latest new game joining Xbox Game Pass this month is the sci-fi hospital management game Galacticare. Brightrock Games’ title was previously slated for an “early 2024” window, but a new trailer confirmed its new May 23 release date on Xbox Series X/S, with True Achievements confirming it will be another day one release.
Galacticare should please fans of business simulation titles such as Hospital Tycoon or Two Point Hospital who have often wondered “But what if I was running this hospital in space?” The title sees players assume the role of Galacticare’s director, tending to a variety of different alien species and curing their bizarre illnesses using cutting-edge technology and futuristic medical advancements in a hospital of their own creation, while also trying to turn a profit to keep the facility running.
There are two main modes in Galacticare: Story and Sandbox. The story mode, in which players have to literally save the Galaxy, offers a rich offbeat narrative that takes players from treating deep-space prisons to entire planets. Meanwhile, sandbox mode will let players design their ideal facility without some of the obstacles found in the main story.
In a month of titles ranging from lost cartoon cats to epic battles inspired by Norse mythology and Celtic culture, Galacticare‘s presence on the Xbox Game Pass roster only further demonstrates how diverse the subscription’s offerings are. With its offbeat humor and strategic gameplay, Galacticare seems like a must-play for subscribers who are fans of real-time management sims.
