An unidentifed notorious gunrunner was Thursday around 11:30am forced to abandon his seven pump action guns at Onitsha, Anambra State. The seven brand new Jojef magnum pump action guns were concealed in a bag.
It was gathered that the operatives laid ambush at the identified location at Creek Road, Onitsha, and the gunrunner, on sighting the police, abandoned the bag and took to his heels.
This was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
According to him, the breakthrough was sequel to the practical intelligence and tact-led policing strategy of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, aimed at frustrating criminal plans, โespecially on the intel received overtime about planned attacks by unlawful group/secessionists to enforce illegal sit-at-home on 30th May 2024โ.
Meanwhile, CP Itam has directed a manhunt for the notorious gunrunner and the gang. He urged residents of Anambra to always provide useful security information to the police to enable them to continue to frustrate criminal intentions of non-state actors in the state.
