In celebration of Star Wars day, Hasbro has announced seven new figures in its Star Wars Black Series, Vintage Collection, and the Retro Collection. Disney, Lucasfilm, and affiliated companies offer several deals and releases on Star Wars day, and Hasbro joined in on the celebration as well. The new figures offer collectors a great chance to expand their displays with some very impressive figures, accessories, and designs.
During the latest Hasbro Pulse, Hasbro revealed the latest additions to their Star Wars figure collections, set to release in the fall. They include new figures from the Star Wars movies, especially the prequel trilogy, such as a multipack of characters in The Phantom Menace and Emperor Palpatine. Newer Star Wars shows like Ahsoka are also represented in the latest release, as well as several other corners of the galaxy far, far away.
The first of the bunch of new figures is a 3-pack including Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul as seen during the Duel of the Fates in The Phantom Menace. As fully articulated figures, it will be possible to recreate every moment of the fateful duel at the end of the film. Standing at 6 inches tall, all three of the figures together will be an impressive display. The announcement of the Phantom Menace 3-pack also comes at the perfect time – just before the re-release of the movie ahead of its 25th anniversary.
Another 6-inch figure in the premium Black Series line is Darth Sidious fully revealed as a Sith Lord. This figure continues the trend of including prequel trilogy characters, as Sidious’s design is based on the character’s appearance in Revenge of the Sith. The detail of that design is clear to see, as Sidious has his iconicly evil pale visage and yellow Sith eyes. With both a lightsaber and Force lightning hands as accessories, collectors can use this figure to display truly unlimited power.
Another multipack is the duo of Jedi Master Yoda and Clone Commander Gree, based on their appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As their appearance is based on the animated show, the two work together well before Order 66 was ever enacted. While Gree stands at 6-inches tall, Yoda is true to his size in the movies and significantly smaller. To make up for his diminished size, this multipack includes several accessories for Yoda, including his lightsaber, Jedi Council chair, and walking stick.
The newest addition to Star Wars that is included in Hasbro’s Black Series line comes from Ahsoka in the form of Captain Enoch and a night trooper. Together, they serve as one of the most frightening parts of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return from exile. The 6-inch figures also include exquisite detail, from Enoch’s golden face plate to the night trooper’s damaged armor. With fully posable limbs, collectors can also visually convey how the night troopers were resurrected by the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and how powerful their magick was.
Hasbro has also included one of the Separatists’ most powerful units on the battlefield, the B2 super battle droid. The super battle droid’s model is based on its appearance in Attack of the Clones, as seen by the slimmer build of its torso and head than it appeared in The Clone Wars. With the included laser blast effect accessory, collectors can use this figure for any number of prequel-era battle scenarios to give the heroes more than enough of a challenge.
While Hasbro’s main focus with its recent releases is certainly on the prequel trilogy, the original trilogy also got some representation via a 4-pack of Rebel X-Wing pilots. Featuring two humans, a Duros, and a Mirialan, Hasbro has exemplified how much of the galaxy joined together in the Rebel Alliance to help combat the Galactic Empire. The pilots aren’t just deadly in space, though, as they also come with several sets of blasters in case they need to defend themselves outside of the cockpit of their X-Wings.
By far the largest multipack of Hasbro’s recent announcements comes from the Retro Collection and its pack based on the second and third installments in the prequel trilogy. The pack includes 3.75 inch figures of Padmรฉ Amidala, Mace Windu, and Jango Fett based on their appearance in Attack of the Clones, and Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous, and a clone trooper in Revenge of the Sith. With six different characters and 10 total accessories, this pack could fill out a collection very well, and help give the prequel trilogy a more nostalgic feel.
