Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has reappointed Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.
This followed the repeal of the Kano State Emirates Law on Thursday morning by the state assembly.
The bill was subsequently sent to the governor for assent.
Yusuf signed the law at exactly 5:10 pm on Thursday alongside his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly and other principal officers in the government according to Daily Trust.
The governor subsequently made the announcement of the reappointment at the government house.
He directed all five former emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye to vacate their palaces within 48 hours from 5.00 pm today being Thursday.
He further directed them to hand over all properties in their possession to the Commissioner for local government/deputy governor.
Under the new Kano Emirate repeal law 2024, Kano State is now unified as one emirate
Recall that former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had dethroned Muhammadu Sanusi in 2020, following a personal rift.
