Muhammadu Sanusi II has been reinstated as the Emir of Kano for the second time.
The ceremony took place on Friday at the Kano State Government House.
The reinstatement followed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s signing of a new emirate council law on Thursday.
The new legislation dissolved the positions of the emirs of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye, which paved the way for Sanusi’s return.
Sanusi, who was dethroned in 2020 by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, officially received his appointment letter at the ceremony on Friday.
