The Justice League has been brought together once again, this time through talented fan art that presents DC’s beloved heroes in ambitious and incredibly cool new costumes. This fresh take on the League’s attire comes at a perfect moment, coinciding with the upcoming DC summer blockbuster event, Absolute Power. It’s expected that these heroes will be donning new costumes for the event, making this fan art even more timely and exciting.
Mike Becker recently shared his rendition of a reunited Justice League on X (formerly known as Twitter), featuring Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Shazam, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Aquaman, and Green Lantern. However, his artwork does more than just bring these heroes back together after their disbandment following the events of Dark Crisis; it also introduces ambitious new costumes for them.
Additionally, Becker cleverly captioned his post with “The Brave and Bold Adventures of the All-Star World’s Finest Superfriends: The JUSTICE LEAGUE!” paying homage to various comic titles and the stories that have brought these heroes to life.
Of Becker’s reimaginings, Batman, Superman, and Shazam each undergo the most drastic redesigns, featuring a new insignia on each of their chests. These logos introduce unprecedented changes, yet remain recognizable. Superman’s “S” symbol adopts a vibrant red hue with a unique font, set against a never-before-seen light blue background and a golden border. Batman’s design cleverly merges the classic Bat insignia with the geometric shapes of his cowl. Shazam’s iteration is particularly striking, transforming the iconic lightning bolt into an exclamation mark, a tribute to Billy Batson’s transformation phrase, “SHAZAM!”
Also notable about the Batman, Superman, and Shazam redesigns is Becker’s ingenious inclusion of several Super-Pets associated with each character. Shazam’s magical bunny rabbit named Hoppy floats alongside Billy in a matching Captain Marvel suit, while Superman’s beloved superpowered canine companion, Krypto, showcases his Kryptonian powers by floating alongside his master. Most striking, though, is the parrot perched on Batman’s shoulder, which is particularly notable considering that the Dark Knight doesn’t typically have a pet bird. Therefore, this is likely a tribute to Bruce’s bird-themed partner, Robin.
Becker’s Justice League redesigns arrive at a pivotal moment, coinciding with DC Comics’ impending summer event, Absolute Power. As the possibility of the Justice League reuniting looms, it’s probable that the iconic “Big Seven” League members will receive costume updates for this event. This speculation is reinforced by Dan Mora’s variant cover for Absolute Power #1, which showcases the core League members in new attire. Given Mora’s role as the lead artist for Absolute Power, it’s likely that these updated Justice League costumes will be featured in the main storyline as well.
