MANCHESTER United have won this year’s FA Cup in England after beating their neighbours Manchester City 2-1 at the Wembley Stadium today.

With their season in turmoil having finished eighth in the English Premier League and their manager Erik ten Hag’s future in the balance, Manchester United were not given any chance by pundits.

But they defended resolutely against the Premier League champions and took two of their chances in the first half through youngsters Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

Jeremy Doku pulled one back late on for Manchester City but it was too little, too late for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Garnacho got United in front in the 30th minute, tapping into an empty net with Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega stranded.

Mainoo doubled Manchester United’s lead nine minutes later following a fine team move, stroking home off a cheeky Bruno Fernandes pass.

City gave themselves some hope three minutes from time when Andre Onana failed to stop Doku’s shot from the edge of the box.

Despite City pressure and seven minutes of stoppage time, United held on for their second Cup in two years after last season’s Carabao Cup success.
