In a decisive blow to criminal elements plaguing the North-West region, troops of Operation Whirl Punch have successfully eliminated four bandits, including the notorious Dongon Bangaje, during intense fighting patrols in Kaduna State.

The operation, according to a statement by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, saw troops conducting special fighting patrols over the weekend in Tumburku village and Sabon Sara, both located in Giwa Local Government Area.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged fleeing bandits in a hot pursuit after sighting them in Sabon Sara. In the ensuing encounter, two bandits were swiftly neutralized, and a cache of items, including weapons, motorcycles, and assorted charms, was recovered from the scene.

In a parallel operation at Basurfe village, South-West of Kindandan, troops encountered an ambush but successfully fought through it, resulting in the neutralization of two more bandits. The operation also led to the dismantling of a camp used as a treatment area for insurgents.

The recovered items from the Basurfe village included firearms, ammunition, explosives, communication devices, and medical supplies. Notably, among the bandits eliminated was the notorious bandit leader Dongon Bangaje, along with an associate whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

The successful operations underscore the commitment of Operation Whirl Punch to rid the region of criminal elements and restore peace and security to communities in Kaduna State. It also sends a clear message of the unwavering resolve of security forces to confront and defeat criminal activities across the country.
