Selling The OC star Alexandra Jarvis was a fixture in the first seasons of the show, but she recently announced she left the Oppenheim Group, meaning Selling The OC season 3 will likely be her last. With an influx of realtors leaving the Orange County, California based brokerage behind, many have been curious about what’s happening at the Oppenheim Group to see their employees so dissatisfied that they’re choosing to work elsewhere. It’s worth noting Jarvis, who has appeared on the Netflix series Selling The OC season 1, struggled in her working relationships throughout her time at the O Group.
Jarvis has been a polarizing member of the O Group throughout her time on Selling The OC. Originally partnering up with Alexandra Rose, another member of the Selling The OC cast, Jarvis was adept with her clients. She spent the majority of the first season of the series working with Rose to door-knock and find listings that weren’t up for public consumption. After Selling The OC season 1, Jarvis found herself looking for a different challenge. Leaving Rose behind, things got dramatic between the colleagues as Rose wanted to continue working together, even though Jarvis was ready for something new.
During an interview with People about her departure, Jarvis didn’t mince words about why she was leaving. Though she didn’t provide all of the details behind her decision, she did make it clear that the culture of the Oppenheim Group isn’t pleasant for everyone involved. Despite what it may appear like on Selling The OC, Jarvis explained that some of her castmates have gone out of their way to create a “toxic culture” at the Oppenheim Group’s OC offices, which weighed heavily on her before she decided to leave. Jarvis maintained professionalism, but her relationships with colleagues were a struggle.
In the interview, Jarvis shared that she didn’t think many were shocked by her choice to leave the O Group behind. “There were a lot of factors that went into my decision,” Jarvis explained. “I don’t really think anyone’s surprised by [the choice]…I don’t really know what to say about it other than I just know when it’s time to leave a party.” Jarvis’ comments make it obvious that though she wasn’t happy with the way things were going at the Oppenheim Group, she decided to leave before they became worse. Jarvis was upfront but kept the details private.
Though many have been speculating about Jarvis’ career and whether she may shift into a part-time role at the O Group, her departure wasn’t something viewers were necessarily prepared for. While Jarvis has never been one of the cast members to get along with the rest of the group, her time on Selling The OC hasn’t been too turbulent throughout the series. Though she was looking for better listings and higher-value clients, Jarvis has worked well with the brokerage throughout the last several years. Her time at the Oppenheim Group may not have been perfect, but she did her best.
Just a week before Selling The OC season 3 was set to premiere, Jason Oppenheim made waves by officially announcing Jarvis’ departure from the brokerage. Sharing that she’d chosen to part ways with his firm and he wished her the best moving forward, Jason didn’t reveal many details surrounding the incident. Though Jarvis’ departure wasn’t announced right away, her profile had been removed from the O Group’s website weeks before, leading many to believe she’d already been gone for some time before Jason’s announcement. Though he was sad to see her go, Jason shared he had respect for Jarvis’ decision.
Although there isn’t much known about what’s coming up for Jarvis, many have speculated that leaving the Oppenheim Group likely means she’ll be leaving the real estate industry entirely. According to her interview with People, Jarvis didn’t mention any future career plans in her discussion about leaving the brokerage. Instead, she shared that she’s ready to spend some downtime with her husband Sergio Ducoulombier, who she married in a lavish Italian ceremony in April 2023. “I’ve been enjoying married life,” Jarvis explained, citing that she’s happy to have “a little bit less stress, less drama, and just normal everyday life.”
Jarvis’ relationship with Sergio has been cause for speculation in itself, especially on Selling The OC, where the cast members tend to be more ruthless about their style of gossip. When Jarvis first announced her relationship with the nearly 50-year-old CEO of Slip Cash, a cashless payment system, the cast of Selling The OC found the pairing to be odd. Though Jarvis has always been quieter and kept to herself, she felt obligated to stick up for her relationship against the harsh words of the other O Group agents. Making it clear her private life was private, Jarvis fought back.
While it’s unclear if Jarvis plans to continue a career in real estate, if she does it would be smart for her to return to Selling The OC in the future. Though Jarvis has been working as a model throughout her time in the real estate industry, she’s typically been doing both at the same time. She may be choosing to commit to a full-time schedule with her modeling, or simply reveling in the fact that she doesn’t have to work multiple jobs to keep herself afloat. For Jarvis, it’s likely enjoyable to be spending time with her new husband.
Though Selling The OC moves quickly, there is always room for cast members to leave the series and return, as seen by the agents on Selling Sunset. While it may not be in Jarvis’ plan to leave the industry, the fact that she’s left the Oppenheim Group behind suggests she may be taking a break from the real estate lifestyle. If she does leave and chooses to return, it’s likely that with the way Jarvis works, the Oppenheim Group would still have a place for her. This would allow the option to return to Selling The OC in the future.
