The Union: Mark Wahlberg & Halle Berry Are Secret Agents In New Netflix Action Movie Images

Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry are playing secret agents in brand-new images from the Netflix film The Union. The Union is an upcoming action movie about an unassuming construction worker named Mike (Wahlberg) who becomes wrapped up into the spy world after his high school ex-girlfriend Roxanne (Berry) recruits him to be a part of a high-stakes US intelligence mission. In addition to Berry and Wahlberg, The Union also features a leading cast including J.K. Simmons, Alice Lee, Mike Colter, Jessica De Gouw, Adewale Akinnuoya-Agbaje, Jackie Earle Haley, Lucy Cork, and Patch Darragh.

As per Entertainment Weekly, a series of images from The Union have now been revealed. The first two images simply show Roxanne and Mike together, walking on a street and then talking in a bar. Berryโ€™s hair is sleek in the role of Roxanne, containing blonde highlights against her dark brown hair. The next image shows Berry next to Simmons, standing above a canal in London. The last shot shows Berry and Walhbergโ€™s characters in action, seemingly dodging some unknown threat, as both look concerned off into the distance. Check out the images below:

In addition to the pictures, the EW feature also included some teases about The Union from Wahlberg. In an intriguing description, the actor referred to his character as โ€œblue collar James Bond.โ€ He explained that Mike is still living with his mother when audiences are first introduced to the character, and he has not really โ€œstep[ped] outside of his comfort zone.โ€ Based on the premise, Roxanne will definitely catapult the character from that comfort zone, as it is her recruitment that makes the former construction worker character enter the spy world.

While the images do not reveal much more by way of The Unionโ€™s plot, they do hint at the chemistry between Berry and Wahlberg. Playing former high school sweethearts, there is bound to be at least a smidge of romantic tension between the two. Wahlberg and Berry are great actors to take this on, as each has shown a vast range in their videography. Wahlbergโ€™s career has included everything from action to drama to comedy. Simmons is also a great actor for the role, as he is incredibly appealing and a powerhouse scene stealer.

The Union is directed by Julian Farino. While the director has not helmed a lot of feature films, he has a deep TV career that includes directing episodes of The Office, Entourage, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and In Treatment. While he is newer to the action film world, hopefully the gravitas of the performances from Wahlberg, Berry, and Simmons will be an aid to the film as The Union hits Netflix this summer, hopefully to become a big hit.
