Three Injured As Truck, Bus Collide On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

No fewer than 3 three people were injured on Thursday in a multiple accident that occurred along the Berger-Kara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Involved in the accident were a 40-feet truck, a luxurious bus, a computer Hiace bus and a van.

The accident caused traffic gridlock along the expressway with travellers moving from Berger inward to Mowe-Ibafo stuck in the gridlock for hours.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, told NewsNGR that the accident happened in the early hours of the morning.

โ€œThree (people) were injured,โ€ she said, adding that the victims who were rushed to an emergency centre in Ojota area of Lagos State are currently receiving medical attention.

Okpe also informed that vehicles involved in the accident have all been cleared out of the road, saying โ€œTraffic is free right now.โ€

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who also confirmed the incident said normalcy has been restored.

He said: โ€œThe emergency responders due to their prompt response were able to rescue the injured victims to the Accident and Emergency Center.

โ€œIn its bid to ease traffic congestion that had extended to Secretariat Bus-stop, the Agencyโ€™s Response Team swiftly utilized the Super-Metro provided by FRSC for recovery exercise, all vehicles and trucks were effectively recovered off the road and the road was restored to normalcy.โ€
