Tiffany actor Jennifer Tilly addresses the character’s shocking fate in the Chucky season 3 finale. The latest episode of SyFy and USA’s small screen Child’s Play franchise entry climaxed in dramatic fashion, as the titular killer doll’s bride Tiffany finally left Jennifer Tilly, entering a new doll body created for her by dollmaker Wendell Wilkins (John Waters). Tiffany’s return to doll form marked the end of a long-running series plotline, in which the actor Tilly was possessed by the character she voiced, and may have killed off the show’s fictionalized version of Tilly for good.
This big Tiffany turn-of-events was just addressed by the real-life Tilly, who confessed to having mixed feelings about leaving behind the Child’s Play series’ long-running joke poking fun at her own career, while expressing excitement about what series creator Don Mancini has in mind for the future. Chucky season 4 has yet to be confirmed, but Mancini has teased wild ideas for new episodes, if/when the show is given a renewal. Now that “Jennifer Tilly” has been left behind, with Tiffany back in doll form, it’s fair to assume that the real Tilly’s role in any future Chucky seasons will be voice-only. Mancini could always resurrect the show’s fictionalized Tilly, of course, but such a move would seem like a step backward after Chucky season 3 wrapped up the possession plotline begun 20 years ago in Seed of Chucky.
As durably funny as the Tiffany in Jennifer Tilly plotline may have been, it’s good that Mancini finally wrapped up the joke, which was indeed taken about as far as it could be taken. Tiffany being back in doll form means more crazy interaction between her and Chucky, a positive development for future seasons of the show. Mancini has also talked about making a new Child’s Play movie that ties in with Chucky season 3, and this movie could indeed center on Tiffany and Chucky and their next mad adventure.
