Tobacco firm celebrates Nigerian workers

Japan Tobacco International Nigeria has applauded Nigerian workers for their creativity in pursuit of excellence, which, according to the firm, has led to its growth in recent times.

The firm, in a statement made available to The PUNCH, said it remained committed to creating a conducive work environment that would allow โ€œbrilliant people to be creative and nurture the best possible culture that embraces diversity and individual development, thereby allowing them to reach their full potential.โ€

With employees in more than 130 countries, the company is part of JTI Worldwide and has won accolades for maintaining employee quality around the world.

The General Manager of JTI Nigeria, Thomas Adams, said the company operated at the forefront of the tobacco industry with its employees at the core of its mission.

He noted that the JTI provided equal opportunities for career development to its personnel, supported greater diversity and inclusion wherever it operated and advanced employee well-being.

โ€œWith this yearโ€™s International Workersโ€™ Day theme, โ€˜Social Justice and Decent Work for All,โ€™ JTI Nigeria is committed to creating a working environment that enables brilliant people to be creative and nurtures the best possible culture that embraces diversity and individual development, thereby allowing them to reach their full potential.

โ€œThe companyโ€™s sustainability target is to be a certified employer of choice every year in at least 60 locations by focusing on talent management, rewards, and empowerment.

โ€œJTI Nigeria offers long-lasting careers with inspiring prospects and promotes gender equality in its operations.

โ€œThis is why it set up the platform, TogetHER, an Employee Resource Group (ERG), which helps foster womenโ€™s empowerment and equal opportunities.

โ€œIt is a safe environment to talk, challenge, and grow on our journey towards gender equality.โ€
