Tyrrell Hatton claimed his first title since the Abu Dhabi Championship in January 2021, dominating the field to win by six strokes at the latest tournament.
The 32-year-old Englishman birdied three of his last five holes to finish on 19 under after 54 holes, comfortably outpacing his compatriot Sam Horsfield.
Hatton’s victory earned him a substantial prize of $4 million (£3.2 million).
His win was characterized by a decisive performance over the weekend, where he took the lead in Saturday’s second round with a strong back-nine display. He then built on that momentum on Sunday, recording eight birdies and two bogeys to seal the victory.
“It was nice to play the last few holes and it not be super tight,” Hatton said after his win.
“I guess having not won for three-and-a-half years, you wonder if you’d be able to do it again in some way. So I was happy I proved that to myself.”
Newly crowned US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, Spain’s Jon Rahm, England’s Lee Westwood, and Chile’s Joaquin Niemann shared third place, each finishing on 12 under.
In addition to his individual success, Hatton also shone in the team competition. Alongside Rahm, he led Legion XIII to a victory on 40 under, defeating Crushers by five strokes.
Despite the win, DeChambeau’s team retained the top spot in the overall standings.
This victory marks a significant milestone in Hatton’s career, ending a lengthy title drought and showcasing his ability to compete and triumph at the highest level.
