THE Kwara State Police Command has nabbed a car-snatching syndicate who specializes in disassembling stolen cars in Lagos and selling them in Kwara.
This was confirmed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP).
According to her, detectives were alerted of suspicious activities being carried out at a landfill site near the Madi area on the Okolowo/Jebba motorway in Ilorin, where some suspects were spotted dismantling an automobile.
“Three suspects, Abdulateef Abdulwahab, Wasiu Musa, and Tajudeen Abdulrasak, were caught while dismantling a Nissan Almera automobile in ash with the Lagos registration number AKD919AU.
“During interrogation, the suspects supplied information that led to the arrest of four other accomplices: Usman Oseni, Abdulrasheed Jimoh, Abdulrasak Jamiu Ayinde, and Lukman Ibrahim, all of whom live in Ilorin, Kwara State.
She stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the car was stolen at gunpoint in Lagos State and taken to Ilorin for dismantling and resale.
According to her, “Two other suspects, Olarewaju Sukirulahi and an individual known as “Old Soldier,” remain at large,” and that “efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend these fleeing suspects.”
Toun stated that the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, complimented the policemen carrying out this operation for their prompt and professional conduct.
