Napoli set to drop Osimhen price, no offers yet from Chelsea, PSG, others

THERE are indications that Napoli could lower their asking price for Victor Osimhen, according to reports in Italy.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria striker is expected to leave the Serie A club this summer but the anticipated offers from some of Europe’s giants are yet to arrive.

Italian transfer outlet Calciomercato.com suggested today that Napoli still have not received any offers for Osimhen and are willing to listen to proposals of around €100m as they look to cash in on the Nigeria international this summer.

The 25-year-old striker signed a new contract with Napoli last December that included a €120 to €130m release clause, and he hoped it would be activated this summer, ready for a switch after a largely successful four-year spell in Italy.

Osimhen has publicly stated his preference for a move to the English Premier League but his huge price tag has seemingly put off potential suitors like Arsenal and Chelsea.

Paris Saint-Germain and some clubs in Saudi Arabia are believed to be keen on Osimhen, but none of them have made offers yet.

Meanwhile, new Napoli manager Antonio Conte has identified Romelu Lukaku as one of his primary targets to replace Osimhen ahead of the new season.

However, a deal for the Chelsea striker cannot be completed until Osimhen is sold, according to Football Italia.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for €80m and has registered 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for the club.

He was the top scorer in Serie A with 26 goals in the 2022/2023 season as Napoli won their first Scudetto in 33 years.
