Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, paid a visit to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President, to mark the Sallah celebration in Lagos on Monday, June 17.
This was disclosed by Busola Kukoyi, spokesperson for the First Lady, who shared a photo of both leaders on her X handle.
In her statement, Kukoyi noted, “Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, after receiving the former President who came felicitating on the Sallah celebration on Monday, 17th June.”
The visit comes shortly after Obasanjo’s critical remarks on the Tinubu administration’s handling of policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.
On May 27, at a colloquium titled “Nigeria’s Development: Navigating the Way Out of the Current Economic Crisis and Insecurity,” Obasanjo expressed concerns over what he described as necessary policies being poorly executed.
According to his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo also voiced disapproval of Nigeria’s approach to the coup in Niger Republic during the event held in Abuja.
The visit of the former president to Senator Oluremi Tinubu underscores the continuation of diplomatic engagements and festive traditions among Nigeria’s political leaders amidst ongoing discussions on national policies and strategies.
