Two suspected armed robbers identified as Bello Siddiki (aged 31) and Hammadu Saidu (aged 25), have landed in police custody for terrorising motorists in Adamawa State.
According to a press statement by SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesman, Adamawa, the two suspects are members of a five man syndicate who have been terrorising motorists along the Numan/Lafiya road that connects Adamawa and Gombe States.
He said: โThese criminals are involved in multiple attacks on motorists along the highway, including the recent robbery of a Sienna bus conveying passengers from Abuja to Yola, including one Hassan Kwaji, during which they attacked and robbed them of their handsets and other valuables.
Nguroje explained that the two suspects who are both residents of Sabewa Borrong, in Demsa Local Government of the state, got arrested on 3rd June 2024 by the Commandโs Operatives attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID).
โTheir arrest followed a thorough investigation carried out following the directives of the Commissioner of Police,โ Nguroje said.
He listed items recovered from them to include two machetes, a knife, a handset, and a SIM card, adding that the items were believed to have been used by them in carrying out their dastard acts.
โThe suspects will be charged to court to face the full consequences of their actions.
โIf you see something, say something, and the police will do something,โ the police spokesman concluded.
