The Abia State Government has issued a warning to all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and government-owned institutions within the state, stating that they must provide Treasury Single Account (TSA) clearance documents before qualifying for any voucher payments.
This information was disclosed by Njum Onyemenam, the state’s Accountant General, during a workshop co-organized by her office and the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue. The workshop took place at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, on Friday.
Onyemenam urged heads of accounts at MDAs and government-owned institutions to actively participate in the TSA and the consolidated revenue collection system. Governor Alex Otti initiated these programs in July 2023.
Explaining the TSA’s benefits, the Accountant General highlighted its role in consolidating all government revenue into a single account for improved transparency.
She stated that by using the system, relevant government agencies and institutions can access the central system to fund their expenditures.
Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna, Chairman of the Abia Board of Internal Revenue, further emphasized that all payments to the Abia State government must be channeled through the TSA using bank cards, point-of-sale (PoS) terminals, teller deposits, or a mobile application.
The workshop also featured a presentation by Emma Alozie, who advised all government employees and other individuals to obtain the Abia State Social Identity Number (ABSSIN) for their transactions and enhanced security purposes.
