In a tragic incident, Police Sergeant Sunday Wadzani has been arrested for allegedly killing his father, Retired ASP Wadzani Ntasiri, in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The incident occurred behind the State Police Command headquarters in Modugannari on Sunday evening.
According to a security source, the suspect, who is attached to the Borno State House of Assembly, was taken into custody at the GRA Police Station.
“A police sergeant by the name Sgt. Sunday Wadzani serving in Borno State command today 21st July 2024 this evening at about 1620hrs shot his father Rtd. ASP Wadzani Ntasiri seven times after a minor feud at Maiduguri,” a document detailing the incident read.
Efforts to reach ASP Kenneth Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and the authorities have yet to release further details regarding the incident.
