THE Oyo State Police Command has refuted social media reports suggesting that Sunday Igboho has issued another ultimatum to herders to vacate the South West region.
The command’s spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, in a statement released clarified that the voice note circulating on social media is unfounded.
The statement emphasized that the narrative concerning the alleged expulsion of herders in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State by suspected separatist elements is inaccurate and entirely fabricated.
The command labeled the viral video that emerged yesterday, July 16, 2024, as a deliberate attempt by troublemakers to disrupt the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state by sowing seeds of violence and civil unrest.
Furthermore, it was asserted that no formal eviction notification was issued by any individual or group at any time.
The Commissioner of Police has also directed the supervising Area Commander to personally lead efforts in conducting confidence-building patrols and to enhance the presence of law enforcement personnel in the area.
Additionally, the command has bolstered its operational, intelligence, and tactical resources to forestall any potential disturbances.
