The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law for the creation of 2nd class Emirates and the appointment of 2nd class Emirs in the state.
This decision was made on Tuesday during the second and third readings of the bill, presided over by the Speaker of the House, Jibril Falgore.
The deputy speaker, Muhammad Bello Butubutu, moved for the adoption and passage of the bill.
Butubutu explained that the creation of these 2nd class Emirates and Emirs is intended to support the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in overseeing the emirateโs affairs.
The second class Emirates to be created include:
- Rano Emirate (Rano โ Bunkure โ Kibiya)
- Karaye Emirate (Karaye โ Rogo)
- Gaya Emirate (Gaya โ Ajingi โ Albasu)
This development follows the first reading of the bill, which was conducted before the House embarked on a recess after repealing the Kano Emirate Council law.
