Establishment sealed by LASEPA 1

Lagos Shuts Hotels, Bars Over Noise, Air Pollution

Due to environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has closed a number of companies in the state’s Ikorodu district.

This was revealed in a statement on X.com on Friday by Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s commissioner for the environment and water resources.

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency recently carried out an enforcement operation in some districts of Lagos State, including Agric, Ibeshe, and Ikorodu, in a bid to address noise, air pollution, and other environmental breaches.

A number of businesses, including hotels, bars, petrol stations, lounges, and chicken farms, disregarded LASEPA’s orders in spite of earlier warnings.

As a result, the businesses were temporarily closed to guarantee that environmental standards were followed.

Victory Hotel, Wendy Bar, Moore Gas Plant, Provider Farm and Poultry, Cloud 24, Little Palace Hotel, City Groove Lounge and Bar, Destiny Castle and B.S. Gold Warehouse were among the allegedly impacted businesses.

LASEPA said in the statement that it has cautioned companies about the need to follow environmental regulations on several occasions. It emphasized that many enterprises continued to disobey LASEPA’s orders in spite of multiple warnings and compliance letters issued in the past.

In order to guarantee adherence to state environmental regulations, the agency further promised to step up enforcement actions.

In May, LASPA closed three businesses, a church, and two well-known eateries in the state’s Surulere and Orile Iganmu districts due to noise pollution.
