Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has raised alarm over Kanu’s deteriorating health and alleged denial of medical attention while in detention.
Ejimakor took to Twitter on Tuesday to disclose that during a visit on Monday, Kanu was found in an unwell state, showing symptoms including shortness of breath, low blood pressure, and overall discomfort.
“We found him ill, with shortness of breath, low BP, and general malaise,” Ejimakor tweeted, detailing Kanu’s condition during the visit.
He further stated that despite submitting a request for a doctor’s visit, the Department of State Services (DSS), where Kanu is currently held, reportedly denied access to the doctor.
Ejimakor emphasized, “Today, the doctor arrived at the DSS but was denied access to #MNK,” referring to Nnamdi Kanu.
This recent development adds to ongoing concerns raised by IPOB and Kanu’s family regarding his health.
Earlier in March, IPOB had urged the Federal Government to release Kanu, citing his deteriorating health in detention.
Kanu’s family had also expressed concerns, highlighting his need for medical attention from a cardiologist and appealing to authorities to ensure his well-being.
The situation surrounding Nnamdi Kanu’s health and his detention continues to draw attention and calls for action, as stakeholders monitor developments closely.
