MTN Shuts Offices Nationwide Over Vandalism Of Properties

MTN on Tuesday stated it would close its offices across the country following the vandalism of its properties by frustrated customers.

This came on the heels of outcry from its subscribers after the network provider blocked their lines on Sunday.

On Monday, a mob was observed smashing a barricade fence outside the MTN office in Ibadan and throwing stones into the building. A similar incident was reported in Lagos.

This came after the network provider barred subscribers whose lines were not properly linked to their National Identification Numbers.

However, the Lagos State Police, through spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that they had restored normalcy in the state.

MTN responded on Tuesday, stating that it would close its stores across the country from today as a result of the incidents.

โ€œYello customer, please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July 2024,โ€ the company said in a statement on X.
