The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has said that technical bid evaluation and publications of pre-qualified companies for the 2024 oil block licensing bid round will begin in August 2024.
The NUPRC Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, said this at the 23rd Nigerian Oil and Gas Energy Conference (NOG) with theme, โShowcasing opportunities, driving investment, meeting energy demand.โ
In his presentation titled, โDefining the outlook for deep water exploration and production in Nigeria,โ Komolafe said the registration and submission of pre-qualification documents will close at midnight on Friday, July 5, 2024.
โRegistration closes at 12 midnight Friday, July 5, 2024,โ Komolafe told investors.
Recall that NewsNGR reported the official opening of the bid round at the sideline of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas and the Miami Road Show held in May 2024.
The Commissionโs Boss had said the registration/submission of prequalification documents, pre-bid conference: evaluation of submissions/publication of prequalified applicants which started May 13 would end on June 7, 2024.
Speaking further on the timeline, the NUPRC boss disclosed that the technical bid and commercial submission commence on August 7, 2024 and end on December 12, 2024.
He said the Ministerial consent and contracting will commence on December 16, 2024 and end on January 29, 2025.
The NUPRC boss also listed some of the high-impact achievements of the commission.
Some of them are the issuance of first Petroleum Exploration Licence (PEL) for a geophysical survey project for the acquisition of about 56,000 square kilometres of 3D seismic and gravity data offshore Niger Delta, conclusion of the 2020 Marginal Field Bid Round.
Others are issuance of model licences and petroleum prospecting licenses to deserving awardees leading to early Field Development Plan as well as commencement of the mini bid licensing round for seven deep offshore Petroleum Prospecting Licences to boost the nationโsย reserves.
