NASD OTC Exchange Suffers 0.18% Loss

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed on Tuesday, July 10 with a 0.18 per cent loss on the back of a decline of a N3.50 in the share price of FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, closing at N46.50 per unit, in contrast to the previous dayโ€™s N50.00 per unit.

As a result, the market capitalisation of the bourse went down by N3.83 million to wrap the session at N2.101 trillion compared with Mondayโ€™s closing value of N2.105 trillion.

Also, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) dropped by 2.8 points during the trading session to settle at 1,533.68 points, in contrast to the 1,536.48 points recorded in the previous session.

Business Post reports that yesterday, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) gained 60 Kobo to sell for N20.10 per share compared with the previous dayโ€™s N19.50 per share.

There was a slide in the volume of securities traded on Tuesday by investors by 99.3 per cent to 36,599 units from the 5.0 million units transacted a day earlier.

The value of stocks bought and sold by investors depreciated by 8.2 per cent to N49.9 million from the N54.5 million posted in the previous trading session.

These transactions were executed in 21 deals compared with the 13 deals carried out in the preceding trading day, representing a 61.5 per cent rise.

When the trading activities ended for the day, Aradel Holdings Plc was the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 6.6 million units valued at N18.2 billion, followed by CSCS Plc with a turnover of 101.7 million units worth N2.5 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with the sale of 259.6 million for N1.3 billion.

Also, Capital Hotels Plc closed the session as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 259.6 million valued at N1.3 billion, trailed by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with the sale of 218.8 million units for N46.1 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with the sale of 139.8 million units for N240.1 million.
